Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice: Fall Plates from Little Italy Restaurants

Category: Stories

Grab your pumpkin spice lattes and plaid scarfs, because restaurants in Little Italy are saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall with brand-new dishes full of seasonal ingredients. While temperatures in San Diego might not be dropping any time soon, that is no excuse to not embrace the fall bounty.

For our breakfast lovers, Harbor Breakfast invites seafood lovers to turn up the heat with dishes such as their Shrimp Diablo and Lobster Benedict, served with a side of fruit, hash browns, and good, old-fashioned hospitality. For those always on the go and in need of something quick, stop by Breakfast at Stephanie’s for a breakfast burrito, acai bowl, or one of their signature Mamacitas breakfast croissants all at a moment’s notice.

For a hearty lunch, head over to Nolita Hall for wood fired pizzas or grab something on the lighter side like their Dressed to Kale salad made with toasted almonds, local apples, and golden beets. Dining out with a picky eater? Build your own pasta bowl at Bencotto with your choice of freshly made pasta and  sauce or go for the ultimate indulgence with their Cheesewheel Pasta tossed in a 60lb wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

For dinner, enjoy a Sicilian feast at Rovino Rotisserie + Wine which features signature flatbreads, pastas and entrees like their Pollo Arrosto that’s made with fresh garlic, Italian herbs, olive oil, roasted potatoes, and steamed vegetables. Satisfy your craving for comfort food at Herb & Wood and enjoy classics such as Bucatini made with wild boar, duck egg, pomodoro and chili flakes or try their Spanish Chorizo Pizza topped with taleggio, roasted pepper and honey.

Finally, no meal is made complete without a little (or a lot) of something sweet! Stop by Extraordinary Desserts for mouth-watering concoctions from traditional favorites like their Aloha Pumpkin Pie made with a roasted pecan crust and topped with swirls of marshmallow coconut milk whipped cream and apple croissant bread pudding. Shake things up with one of Salt & Straw’s Halloween-themed pints of the month which includes Mummy’s Pumpkin Spiced Potions, Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Creepy Crawler Critters, and The Great Candycopia a salted butterscotch ice cream loaded with bourbon vanilla toffee pecans, chocolate, peanut butter, shortbread, and nutty nougat.
