National Eat Outside Day

Category: Stories

August is coming to an end, and soon our warm summer days will be replaced by autumn’s cool nights. However, before you exchange that tank-top and sandals for a cozy sweater and boots, we invite you to spend your last day of August here, with us, for National Eat Outside Day! On Aug. 31 soak up the last of that summertime sunshine by visiting your favorite restaurants for some al fresco dining and do as the Italians do in the old country.

For our breakfast lovers start your morning with an Americano or latte and Piedmont toast served with sliced bananas, Nutella, and topped with hazelnuts at Caffe Italia. If you’re looking for something a little sweeter stop by Devil’s Dozen for a selection that is sure to satisfy that sweet tooth. If the cinnamon sugar donut holes won’t do it for you then the chocolate old fashions will. Feel free to keep hitting snooze on your alarm thanks to the Farmer’s Table whose brunch selection varies from omelets and benedicts to waffles and pancakes available from 9am-3pm daily. Plus, don’t forget to try one of their signature Bloody Mary made with bacon-wrapped shrimp and andouille sausage.

For a hearty lunch, grab a husky burger made with 100% fresh, grass-fed beef, organic white cheddar, sustainably-sourced lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles at the Burger Lounge. Get a taste of Japanese cuisine at Cloak & Petal with their MICHELIN Guide recognized bento boxes, bowls, and signature hand rolls like the Saucy Boi made with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and spicy mayo.

For dinner, enjoy an authentic Sicilian feast at Barbusa with artisan pizza and handmade risotto bietole pasta and handcrafted cocktails like their Palermo made with Grey Goose pear vodka, St. Germaine, lime, and serrano for a little heat. Be dazzled by the cheesewheel pasta at Bencotto featuring spaghetti tossed in a 60-pound wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese or have it your way and build your own dish with a selection of house made pastas and sauces.

End the night with a bit of dessert at Salt and Straw. Try their August pint of the month for flavors inspired by an Americana summer such as their salted hazelnut praline s’mores, buttermilk pancakes, bacon and eggs, and their famous huckleberry cast iron cornbread pint. Enjoy pastries, cakes, and more at Extraordinary Desserts where you can contemplate over mouthwatering options such as their brownie cheesecake, caramelized crème brulee, and coconut cream pie. You may want to pack a few extra desserts to go.
