Sidewalk Vending Ordinance

The City of San Diego allows roaming and stationary sidewalk vendor entrepreneurs to use the public right of way or public property for sidewalk vending with several restrictions. This includes the sale of art, food, clothing and souvenirs from a pushcart, pedal-driven cart, wagon, showcase, rack or other nonmotorized conveyance.

On May 17, 2022, the City Council approved Ordinance O-21459, establishing regulations and requirements for sidewalk vending throughout the City. This Ordinance became effective on June 22, 2022.

The Little Italy district has restrictions on sidewalk vending not allowing sidewalk vending at anytime or during special events, please review the Ordinance O-21459 for more details.  Little Italy also has several restriction, as it pertains to food truck operation, that do not permit sales at anytime.
