Dolce Vita Italian Cooking Class at Home

Little Italy chef is ready & excited to come to your home and show you how fun it is to prepare healthy & delicious Italian food!

Learn how to make authentic Italian dishes in the comfort of your own home by one of Little Italy’s top chefs! Owner of Dolce Vita Catering, Chef Roberto brings his cooking knowledge and traditional techniques to teach you and your party how to create your choice of Fettuccine Bolognese, Pappardelle Asparagus Parmigiano Truffle Oil, Penne Pesto and Cherry Tomatoes, Rigatoni Mushrooms and Sausage, Butterfly Pasta with Smoked Salmon, Spaghetti Carrettiera (garlic and olive oil Sicilian style), Linguine Zucchini and Gamberi (shrimp), Risotto Seafood, Risotto Porcini Mushrooms, Risotto Pumpkin Speck (smoked prosciutto) and Provolone, or Lasagna Bolognese.

The class is 2.5 hours (limited to a minimum/maximum of five guests) and is available Monday-Friday with advance registration.

You pick your favorite recipe and book your day. After you select the recipe, our handsome chef from Bagheria, Sicily will do the grocery shopping and come over and teach you and your friends/family how to prepare it!  This experience requires 72-hour cancellations notice.

Italian Bread Making Class

Learn how to make Italian bread with Chef Francesco from Verona, Italy.

During this class, you'll learn how to make perfect Italian sourdough bread with the same equipment you can find in a regular home kitchen. The class will focus on how to prepare the dough, using yeast to rise your bread, and how to bake with a delicious crust and soft inside! We will provide all the equipment and ingredients for the class and every person will make two different breads to bring home.

Italian Pasta Making Class

This pasta class is dedicated to discovering how to make pasta from scratch from our husband and wife team from Italy.

You'll learn how to make egg pasta dough and water pasta dough, making pasta sheet, slicing spaghetti, and fettuccine. Afterwards, we'll explain how to make filled pasta such as ravioli, caramelle, fagottini, and more! We'll provide you utensils, food and everything needed to make it. Families, friends, and people curious about food are warmly welcomed to spend this time with Lucia and Francesco for an authentic Italian experience!  You will get to eat the pasta you create and will be offered your choice of a variety of Italian sauces to enjoy it with as part of the experience.

Italian Sunday Lasagna Class

Learn to make Lasagna the way they do in Italy!

This class will focus on learning how to make a delicious Italian lasagna from scratch. We will teach you how to prepare a Bolognese ragù sauce, making the pasta sheets, béchamel, pesto, and to assemble the lasagna. We will make 2 different recipes, one regular lasagna and the other will be a pesto one.  You can eat the lasagna at the class or take them home!

Neapolitan Pizza Class

Learn how to make a Neapolitan style pizza in a wood-fired oven from scratch from a chef, a master pizzaiolo from Pozzuoli, Naples, Italy.

Learn how to make Neapolitan style pizza in a wood-fire oven from scratch with fresh flour imported from Italy! In this fun class 3-hour class, our instructor from Naples, Chef Marcello, will guide you through the steps from working with yeast and preparing the dough, to preparing the toppings in the traditional Italian way. You’ll laugh and learn alongside your friends as you practice shaping dough and creating your very own pizza featuring classic and seasonal flavor combinations. Did we mention this class comes with an Italian lesson too? You’ll get to learn the names of all the ingredients you will be working with, and some fun Italian phrases too!

What To Expect: Great cooking isn't about recipes—it's about techniques. In our classes you'll work together with other students in a fun environment led by our professional chef instructor. If you don't feel like cooking, you can just observe, have fun, make new friends and enjoy the BEST pizza in San Diego!

  • Classes are approximately 4 hours held in the gorgeous, picturesque backyard garden at the home of the chef and his beautiful Italian wife.
  • Please wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back or in a bun.
  • Bring an apron if you want

We use imported flour from Italy, all fresh ingredients.

Invite family and friends.  Each person will take home their pizza dough and eat the pizza made in class.
