crowd photo THE MERCATO IS OPEN JULY 5
When we say every Saturday morning, year-round, rain or shine, we mean holiday weekends too! Cupboards bare after that 4th of July gathering? More parties to come this weekend? Stock up at the Mercato on fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and the sea salts to season it, rotisseried chickens, cheese and olives, dips for that veggie plate, bbq sauce and rubs, pastries, flowers and more. Let feasting ring!

The Certified Farmers’ Market at the Mercato is expanding! New growers each week mean certified farms will continue to extend up the North side of Date Street. Look for Suncoast Farms there this weekend. Rey River, Schaner Farms and Sage Mountain Farm will also be there, offering farm-fresh fruits and vegetables. Kawano Farms, Koral Tropicals, Lone Oak Ranch, Swiss Mountain Eggs and Polito Farms will still be in their usual spots. Now there’s no excuse not to eat your veggies!

SHOP TIL YOU… DANCE
Where can you shop for groceries, grab a bite, pick up a gift, enjoy a view of the bay and dance a little salsa all in one stop? The Little Italy Mercato offers a rotating slate of live music, from the latin sounds of Manny Cepeda and tango guitar of David de Alva to piano, bass and sax jazz combos. What’s more Italian than food and music, after all? So add a CD to that shopping list! Musicians interested in playing at the Mercato contact mercato@littleitalysd.com for more info.
